I realised how long it’s been since I updated this page. For the past few months I’ve been trying to build my local reputation and my business and I’m glad to say that things have been on the up.
Since the summer, I’ve been given the opportunity to work on a number of sessions at the Mill Studio. Owner, Jonny Cole, has brought me in on a few sessions as assistant engineer and I’ve now started running full day sessions myself which is a real step forward. It’s such a nice feeling to hear such positive feedback too, especially as a rather pessimistic person!
My own studio, 11a Studios, has been put on the back burner at the moment while I try and expand the facilities. I’m still taking bookings and working with clients, however.
The work with FabSound has been as sporadic as I expected but it’s till nice to be able to say I’m part of something much bigger.
I’ve recently been in touch with an old client who is travelling to Norfolk from Liverpool to work with me, quite an honour! Jacob Greaves, a singer/songwriter, is coming down at the end of the month to work with me at the Mill Studios.
Apart from that, my band is currently looking for a vocalist. We’ll soon be entering the studio to record our first EP so want to get our final line-up set. If you’re a singer or know anybody that may be interested, drop me an email!
Hopefully after today, I will try and keep this more updated, I know I haven’t been on here for a while but I need to post on here more often so look out for more posts!
It’s been quite a while since I did a proper text post, now is as good a time as any!
Things have been going well in the past few months, with freelancing work picking up as well as bookings for the studio taking off.
Work with Interim Records
I recently started working with Coll and the guys at Interim in Norwich on their upcoming collaboration album. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve been doing Production work rather than strictly engineering and it’s been great fun. I’ve had the opportunity to make music for adverts as well as for the album and hopefully this will continue.
Sessions at The Mill Studio
Working at The Mill was something I’d been wanting to do for a number of years as it’s one of the most popular studios in the area and I’d heard nothing but good reviews from clients I’d met. I got in touch with Jonny and went in to assist on a session he had for a charity record. That went well and I was asked to go back in to cover a session for him at the beginning of April. This is definitely a step in the right direction for me and I hope I can do more work there in the future.
My own studio has been getting more bookings recently which is great news, it’s certainly been a fun couple of months in the studio.
Crooks Hall Studio
I visited Crooks Hall today (17th April) to talk to owner John Metcalfe about dry-hire. It’s a fantastic facility and John is a top bloke. I’m definitely hoping to start freelancing out of there in the future.
My “day job” as it were, has been going really well. I recently saw a couple of adverts I worked on in the cinema which was a fantastic experience and seeing some of the music videos I’ve had a part in creating doing well is cool too!
