It’s been quite a while since I did a proper text post, now is as good a time as any!

Things have been going well in the past few months, with freelancing work picking up as well as bookings for the studio taking off.

Work with Interim Records

I recently started working with Coll and the guys at Interim in Norwich on their upcoming collaboration album. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve been doing Production work rather than strictly engineering and it’s been great fun. I’ve had the opportunity to make music for adverts as well as for the album and hopefully this will continue.

Sessions at The Mill Studio

Working at The Mill was something I’d been wanting to do for a number of years as it’s one of the most popular studios in the area and I’d heard nothing but good reviews from clients I’d met. I got in touch with Jonny and went in to assist on a session he had for a charity record. That went well and I was asked to go back in to cover a session for him at the beginning of April. This is definitely a step in the right direction for me and I hope I can do more work there in the future.

11a Studios

My own studio has been getting more bookings recently which is great news, it’s certainly been a fun couple of months in the studio.

Crooks Hall Studio

I visited Crooks Hall today (17th April) to talk to owner John Metcalfe about dry-hire. It’s a fantastic facility and John is a top bloke. I’m definitely hoping to start freelancing out of there in the future.

My “day job” as it were, has been going really well. I recently saw a couple of adverts I worked on in the cinema which was a fantastic experience and seeing some of the music videos I’ve had a part in creating doing well is cool too!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach me on my email: davidroyse.audio@gmail.com

For bookings, the same address but with “Bookings” in the subject field.

Post Alchemea Things

So I’ve now finished at Alchemea, I’m “qualified” and am now starting to look for work. I’ve hopefully got a few things lined up at the BBC and ITV and have sent off a few very exciting job applications. I’m in the process of setting myself up as a Freelance Engineer which is also very exciting but any talk of setting up a business leaves me worried…

I also asked one of my lecturers from Alchemea if he could write me a recommendation and this is what he sent me:

“David was a very active member of the class and always conveyed a good deal of enthusiam and humour. He exhibited the right attitude from the off, and although I haven’t had the opportunity of working with him on a professional level, I would certainly recommend him as a strong candidate for consideration within any facet of the music/recording industry. Mat McKinley”

I’m trying to get a proper website up and running but this tumblr will be the main place to find me for the time being.
